After studying medicine in Utrecht, I moved to Amsterdam to work in the burn center in Beverwijk. After 5 years of burn care and science, I obtained my PhD at the VU Medical Center and started my GP training. As a general practitioner, I have worked for years in various practices in Amsterdam, but also in other parts of the Netherlands. As the son of a country doctor, I wanted to settle with my family in the East of the Netherlands, where I grew up. An accessible atmosphere with personal contact with the patients is what attracted me there. What attracted me so much to the East of the country, I found in my own living environment; the East of Amsterdam. I decided to settle here. Oostenburg combines old with new, the urbanity of Amsterdam with the small-scale of an island, with a fresh crop of people and activity. My aim is to contribute to safe and trusted care for the people in Oostenburg. I would like to welcome everyone in the vicinity of Oostenburg!

Tuesday and Wednesday
After studying medicine in Leiden, I worked for a year as a doctor in surgery in The Hague. I then studied general medicine at the VU in Amsterdam. I then emigrated to Aruba, where I enjoyed having my own practice as a general practitioner for almost 6 years. Now that I am back in the Netherlands, I enjoy working as a general practitioner in the practice of my old fellow student Martijn. Especially since he has a completely new approach to the general practitioner profession. The general practitioner profession is versatile and there are so many more options than just regular consultations. That is why I chose Martijn's practice! I work at the practice on Wednesdays.

Talks to patients online
I have been working as a mental health nurse practitioner in various general practices for over ten years. Prior to that, I gained ten years of experience in specialist mental health care, where I worked as a psychiatric nurse in various admission and treatment wards. A few years ago, I also completed my training as a systemic therapist. Since 2025, I have been a happy member of the Oostenburg team, where I support people who are dealing with mental or emotional issues. Everyone goes through difficult periods or temporary setbacks from time to time. I would be happy to work with you to determine what you need to move forward, in a way that suits your personal situation, life story and strengths. I offer accessible digital consultations, where connection and trust are paramount. You can easily start a conversation from your own living room, a quiet place at work or even a nice spot outside. I work from home in the south of Brabant, but sometimes also from abroad, in keeping with my love of travelling and discovering other cultures. Feel welcome to get in touch if I can be of service to you!

Nina Saxena
Practice assistent for chronic care
Tuesday evening
From an early age, I knew that I wanted to study medicine and preferably work in healthcare. During my studies, I was able to further develop this enthusiasm, and last summer I completed my bachelor's degree in Medicine. I am currently waiting to start my residency, which means I will be present at the practice every week for about a year. Before I started my studies, I worked as a doctor's assistant for two years. This gave me a lot of experience with the daily routine of a general practice and showed me how enjoyable and valuable this work is. At the practice, I will be supervising part of the chronic care under the supervision of the GP. You can also come to me for various assistant appointments. I really enjoy learning so much from the practice during my studies and being able to help patients at the same time. I look forward to meeting you at the practice!
